This print is part of a new body of work exploring the prehistoric stone carvings found here in Ireland and further afield, known as Cup & Ring marks. It is an examination of our innate intimacy with place and landscape. And how that may or may not have changed through the passage of time.
The alchemical process of ink making, combined with the considered mark making lay down a foundation for the inks themselves to take the process a step further. They change, develop and intermingle on the page with their own purpose.
The original was made using my own sustainably harvested and handcrafted inks from the Irish hedgerows and some non botanical, but historical colours also.
They are oak gall, rust & copper oxide.
This limited edition [1/15] Fine Art print is a copy of the original Stone Baskets.
This print has been produced using Epson Ultrachrome HDX Pigment inks on Hahnemuhle phot rag 308g paper. Both are certified to the highest museum standard.
Dimensions given include the cardboard frame, which makes a 5cm border.
